> WHAT IS TMAIL?
TMail is a TINY command which scans a mailbox file
looking for new mail, and displays authors of the messages
(the FROM: field). Very helpful when you want to have an
idea of your incoming mail just after downloading it without
the need to start your big mailreader.
> HOW DOES IT WORK?
In order to recognize new emails TMail looks for a string
put in headers by your mail reader everytime it processes the
mailbox file. When this string is not present, the message is
supposed to be NEW. Default string is "X-Status", used with
ELM mailreader; you can change the string according to your
favourite program: just take a look at the mailbox file.
TMail is very fast as it starts reading the file from the
BOTTOM, displaying new messages and quitting when it reaches
the first key string.
> USAGE [Shell only]
Syntax is:
TMail mailbox [Key] [NOMESSAGE]
mailbox : your mailbox file
Key : string to look for, default is "X-Status" for
ELM users
NOMESSAGE: Avoid printing "New message from " string
before displaying the author
> INSTALLATION
We suggest to call TMail right after invoking your mail
download program (AmiPOP or similar).
